Complexities of Diabetes is the focus of Education Summit

The challenges that we are facing with diabetes are much bigger than any one of us and our organizations," said Pat Montoya, executive director of the New Mexico Coalition for Healthcare Value, as she kicked off the group's fall education summit, "Employers Role in Carrying Diabetes Prevention and Management to New Heights," in Albuquerque Nov. 18.

Coalition examines ways to save Rx costs

New Mexico Coalition for Healthcare Value board members recently took a look at pharmacy trends, including generic drugs, biologics and biosimilars, specialty drug growth and contracting strategies all in an effort to acquaint Coalition members with tactics to control prescription drugs costs.

Saiz to Continue Leadership of the New Mexico Coaltion for Healthcare Value Board of Directors

Albuquerque, NM -- Mark Saiz will continue to serve as chair of the New Mexico Coalition for Healthcare Value (NMCHCV) board of directors for the 2016 -2017 term. Saiz is the insurance and benefits manager for the City of Albuquerque and a founding member of the employer-led, multi-stakeholder, nonprofit group. 

Vice chair of the coalition is Mary Romero Hart, senior manager of Total Rewards for Sandia National Laboratories, which is operated for the U.S. Department of Energy by Sandia Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Lockheed Martin Corporation. Mark Tyndall, executive director of the New Mexico Retiree Health Care Authority is the new secretary/treasurer.

Spring 2016 Newsletter

Coalition member efforts equal results

The New Mexico Coalition for Healthcare Value’s officially came into existence on May 1, 2015. During this first year as an employer-led organization, the following goals were achieved. Representatives of 10 local employers came together to sign a pledge and contribute money to create the initial funding for the organization, they also spent the time and named the organization, adopted a mission statement, elected board members, set up a budget. They later filed Articles of Incorporation with State of New Mexico and successfully worked with the IRS to obtain a 501c organization designation.
