ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – New Mexicans will soon benefit from a new organization aimed at maximizing the value of healthcare for everyone in the state. Those who provide healthcare, pay for healthcare and receive healthcare joined forces forming New Mexico Coalition for Healthcare Value.
New Mexico Coalition for Healthcare Value is an employer-led, multi-stakeholder, nonprofit group. It is the positive result and fruition of the work of the New Mexico Coalition for Healthcare Quality, an initiative funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Aligning Forces for Quality (AF4Q) and HealthInsight New Mexico that has operated in Albuquerque and surrounding three counties.
Developed from the positive work of the former NM Coalition for Healthcare Quality, an initiative funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Aligning Forces for Quality (AF4Q) program, the Coalition provides a neutral forum where both private and public partners collaborate and engage in opportunities to align efforts that drive meaningful change to improve healthcare value for all New Mexicans. The Coalition gives employers a strong “voice” by helping them augment their strength in numbers by working together—in advocacy, policy and sharing of best practices. The Coalition also promotes pricing transparency and moving towards alternative payment models that support and incentivize healthcare quality.
In 2009, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF), one of the country’s largest health foundations, gave New Mexicans a challenge – build a multi-stakeholder community collaborative to align the different forces in healthcare – those that provide care, receive care and pay for care...The Coalition is using 2015 as a transition year, a time to bring together the founding members, secure the initial funding, develop the mission-vision for the organization, develop bylaws, organizational structure and develop the membership dues structure for the future.
